VMA was founded on August 3, 1962 in Rampur, a remote village, in Midnapur District of West Bengal, India. Though the Asram was established at a crematorium site, the selfless services of the monks and volunteers, has elevated it as a temple of learning, culture and support for the underprivileged.
It set out to provide quality education, training, health facilities and rehabilitation for the downtrodden, reaching out across global frontiers irrespective of caste, creed and nationality.
With its multi – dimensional activities, especially in eye health care, it has helped to restore the sight of thousands of visually impaired and has also undertaken to conduct rehabilitation programs.
